Teaming Up For the NHS During the COVID Crisis
As an entire nation, we have come together to offer support, adapting to new rules and regulations and to do as much as we can to stop the spread of Coronavirus. Within our company, we have already done so much in an attempt to prevent running the risk of infection. At the beginning this meant putting staff on furlough, working from home, closing our factories and sites and when we re-opened, maintaining social distancing, wearing PPE and enhanced cleaning and hygiene policies. But, that’s not all. Laura Hammett, an interior designer was motivated to do her bit and raise money for all the incredible work demonstrated by the NHS. Laura shared her story of how her father had contracted the virus and had sadly passed on, but she didn’t let this stop her and only motivated her more to raise as much as possible, as a massive thank you to them and all the work they have done.
Laura set up a fundraiser page and set a target of £5,000 and announced a prize of a £25,000 bedroom makeover. So many companies had already got in touch with Laura, offering her their products and services, we here at Middleton Bespoke Joinery were so inspired by Laura’s story and her cause, that we immediately got in touch and offered to make a completely bespoke wardrobe. Laura was delighted with our donation and an absolute pleasure to work with, the original £25,000 makeover quickly became a £35,000 bedroom makeover with more and more companies offering different products.
After the announcement was made and the competition went live, Laura’s target of £5,000 was smashed within the first 24 hours. As time progressed and the closing date for the competition was fast approaching, donations were still flooding in. Even after the competition came to a close and the winner was about to be announced, people were still donating, which eventually led to a phenomenal total of £17,310. The winner was picked at random and work promptly began on the makeover.
We created a beautiful, satin lacquered, bespoke wardrobe with brass inlays, finished with brass handles which had been donated by Oliver Knight. Working closely with Laura and the client, we ensured stunning results.
Together we say a huge thank you to the NHS and all keyworkers who have gone above and beyond, during the pandemic. By doing your bit, no matter how big or small, everything makes a difference and our donation was the least we could do for Laura and her amazing cause.
